Howard Stark's vault is a room in Stark Tower that is filled with prototypes that Howard Stark had gotten bored with or were too dangerous to use. After Howard's apparent death, Obadiah Stane cleaned out the whole room and somehow half of the inventions ended up on the streets. It is sometimes referred to as "The Vault."
History
Tony has never been in his father's vault, ever, and learns that one of his inventions had gotten out in Meltdown. In Field Trip, Iron Man infiltrates Stark Tower using the Stealth Armor and discovers that the whole room is empty.
Inventions
The prototypes were made from a rare, but unstable mineral that is found only in the Arctic Circle.
- Stark Laser Harness: This invention was designed to convert matter into energy and back again. Found by Maggia henchman, Arthur Parks, who used it to become the Living Laser.
- Holographic Disguise Mask: Made to scan a person and create a hard-lined image of that person around the wearer as well as duplicating the target's voice (including the Iron Man Armor, but not the person around it. Stolen by Whitney Stane, daughter of Obadiah Stane, and used it to become the criminal known as Madame Masque.

- In Best Served Cold, Whitney was apparently storing all the weapons she used as Madame Masque in the room that was formerly Howard's vault.
